Kubiak says Johnson closer, not ready to go for Texans

HOUSTON -- Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson will miss his second straight game with a strained left hamstring on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Johnson was injured running a route against Atlanta on Dec. 4. He missed last week's 20-19 win at Cincinnati which clinched Houston's first AFC South title and playoff berth.

It is the second injury Johnson has dealt with this season after sitting out six games following surgery to repair an injury to his other hamstring.

Coach Gary Kubiak said Johnson is getting close to being ready to play, but that he wasn't quite healthy enough to go this week.

The Texans (10-3) have won seven in a row heading into Sunday's game.
